ICIMOD

I worked with The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Kathmandu over a period of four years to document their work in all eight of their member countries across the Himalayan region. I travelled to some extremely remote locations, from the wetlands of the Tibetan plateau to ethnic minorities in the north western frontier province of Pakistan. It was an extensive project which has given ICIMOD a valuable library of images to support their work in the region.

Working under often extreme conditions in the physically challenging and politically unsettled areas of the Himalayas, Alex developed a valuable collection of world class images of people, landscapes, and development activities.

The images have been used to stunning effect in ICIMOD’s flagship publications, major reports, website, and a wide range of public relations material and documents. The photographs contributed substantially to the success of ICIMOD’s new brand.

Alex’s work elevated ICIMOD’s global profile—combining exceptional photography with a rare ability to work in the most remote and challenging environments with only very rudimentary logistical support.
